Mediterranean Youth Council
France
The Mediterranean Youth Council represents all the regions of the Mediterranean region, with members from 18 to 30 years old. It is directed by the association Les Têtes de l’Art, and coordinated by the Provence Alpes Côtes d’Azur region, the Lazio region, and the FACM, with the support of EuroMed France, the Anna Lindh Foundation, and ALDA.
The main functions of the Mediterranean Youth Council are to be a consultative body on the challenges facing the Mediterranean region; to strengthen Mediterranean citizenship and culture and to represent youth in order to defend their interests. Its aim is to promote the democratic participation of young people through debates, transversal analysis, research, dissemination and communication.
Its projects include collaboration with COPEAM (the association that brings together all the Euro-Mediterranean radio stations), and with the magazine Kantara, as well as activities with public and private television stations in order to ensure a presence in the media or participation in the European Summit of Regions and Cities. It has worked on a proposal together with BUSINESSMED, the Euro-Mediterranean employers’ association, so that the voice of young people is taken into account in such important issues as the digital, energy, health and research sectors.
