Gravity Wave is a social startup dedicated to cleaning plastic, as well as fishing nets and gear, from the Mediterranean Sea, in collaboration with more than 7,000 traditional fishermen in Italy, Greece, Spain, and Egypt. It recycles and transforms the waste collected from the seabed into materials and products (street furniture, decorative items, sports stadium seats, etc.).

Gravity Wave has collected more than 900,000 kilos of trash. It has also developed a fishing gear management infrastructure in several ports in Spain, establishing partnerships with fishermen and ports, recycling plants, waste managers, and manufacturers. In addition, around 200 companies fund the collection of plastic from the sea.

Gravity Wave contributes to solutions to plastic pollution in the oceans, starting with the Mediterranean Sea, which has the highest concentration of plastic on the planet. It is engaging fishermen to play an active role in the solution, and above all, it is successfully recycling and transforming materials and waste that were previously lost so they can be reintroduced into the economy, promoting a traceable circular economy with a measurable impact thanks to blockchain.
